awise – ageing workforce in small enterprises

In 20 years almost a third of the European population will be over 60. Less and less children are born, the population dwindles. What are the effects of demographic change on SMEs and which solutions could be developed to actively manage change in small and medium sized enterprises?

"Old out – young in", this principle will soon cease to work. Qualified talents are scarce and difficult to find. The average age of a company's workforce increases, customers of products of SMEs and skilled crafts companies change. The key question therefore is: 'How can innovation in products and services be overcome with an ageing workforce?'

A lot of know how has already been developed on age-conscious company policy. AWISE wants to make this knowledge, problem solving strategies and case studies available to small and medium sized companies, esp. in the skilled crafts sector.
